Lázně Kynžvart
Small city Lázně Kynžvart is located in Cheb district of the Karlovy Vary Region, in the middle of the triangle of the spa towns of Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně and Františkovy Lázně, at the south-western foothills of the Slavkovský forest. Lázně Kynžvart is situated only 15 km from Mariánské Lázně and it is very popular place of interest of many visitors.
The small city of Lázně Kynžvart is located 730 m above sea level near Slavkov forest. The specific climatic conditions in the town ensure that the air is exceedingly pure. This is one of the main factors that make Kynžvart the foremost Czech spa specialising in the treatment of respiratory children´s illnesses. One of the city´s dominant is spa area on a western slope of the town.
The spa, which has four mineral springs, was founded by the Metternich family in the middle of the 19th century after an analysis of local mineral springs and climatic conditions had been carried out. An important turning point in the history of the spa was the year 1950 when the remarkable healing effects of the local climate were discovered during a whooping cough epidemic. Since then the spa has specialised in the treatment of children – the only sanatorium for kids in Czech republic.
The other city´s dominant is nearby reconstructed renaissance Kynžvart Chateau with its fabulous and extensive park.
In the city center you won´t pass the square, with its two sights – historical city hall on the north and St. Markéta´s church on the east.
